The origin of Tarot cards still remains mystery. Yet back to Renaissance, in 15th century an aristocratic family commissioned several Tarot packs which contained 78 cards that are used as the basis of the modern Tarot deck nowadays. They called them as Tarroco.
For more than hundreds years, Tarot cards have been used as a medium for spiritualists for both meditation and contemplation purpose. Tarot cards bear esoteric symbols as a Road Map for life. A standard Tarot deck contains 78 cards which divided into 2 Arcanas : Major Arcana (22 cards) dan Minor Arcana (56 cards). The major arcana represent the most powerful archetype and sequentially they depict personal’s search for enlightenment.
The major arcana start from unnumbered card (sometimes ‘0’) known as The Fool and end up with numbered card ‘21’ known as The World. The minor arcana contain 56 cards which divided into 4 suits (cup, wand, sword and pentacle). Every suit contains 10 pip cards (numbered from 1 to 10) and 4 court cards (page, knight, queen and king). Cup suit is water element and it symbolizes emotion and feeling. Wand suit is fire element and it symbolizes energy and activity. Sword suit is air element and it symbolizes idea, analysis and logic. Pentacle suit is earth element and it symbolizes material and security aspects.
